Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We loved this gem slightly off the beaten track. A nice square with other restaurants around it in the traditional fashion. Locals attending which is of course a good sign. All the dishes were beautifully presented and the local beer on draught is very good."
"The vibe of this place is excellent, it’s located in a beautiful square. We ordered goat cheese as appetizers, eggs with calamari and potatoes, along with the steak. The meat was served already cut into pieces and was very tasty. However, we were disappointed with the house wine, as it tasted like it had been open for quite some time."
"Who knew you could fit so much passion, talent, and creativity into such a small space (inside is small but there is plenty of outdoor seating). The owner of this restaurant pays attention to every detail and know exactly what comes into the kitchen (local and fresh) and what goes out. She knows her food and wine. I had two different tacos and the nachos, divine. I only wish I had had room for the famous artichoke sih. My partner had Ceviche and a lovely homemade (of course) cheesecake. Wish I could eat here every week, don't miss it. Thank you, Jenny!"
"One of my favorite restaurants in Santa Cruz, we came here twice and every single dish we had was amazing. Tuna tartar and black rice were my personal favorites but you can choose anything from the menu and it’s delicious. They work with small producers and organic produce and you can taste the love in the dishes. Amazing selection of local high quality wines as well. The service is really warm and friendly. I can’t wait to come back! Highly recommended!"
"Lovely little place in a small square with a number of other small bars and restaurants. The menu is small but varied and the food is packed full of flavour. The atmosphere was lively with locals more thank tourists. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice to find somewhere a bit tucked away and a bit different. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area."
"Just had an amazing experience at this local gem! The tapas were absolutely delicious, each dish made with such care and creativity. The service was outstanding—warm, personal, and truly made us feel at home. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable meal, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!"
"La Mordidita in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary archipelago is a restaurant to love. It’s hands down the best lunch in town. The tiny dining room and humble courtyard give a hint of what’s to come. Candied artichoke with beetroot and slivered toasted almonds is to die for. Watercress with basil, duck ham, hoisin, feta and giant fried corn served with cinnamon toast by the traditional Sevillian factory. This goes on with the rare combination of what appears to be simple food, perfect attention to detail, perfect balance with pure deliciousness. Don’t miss their version of escaldón - an old and traditional recipe that has links with Tenerife’s original inhabitants, the Guanches. Fish broth poured over gofio and smoked cheese, topped with Canarian mojos, pico de gallo and served in a clay pot. Be sure to finish with a barraquito, typical coffee of the island, prepared with Licor 43, Spain’s no.1 liquor, condensed milk, espresso, lemon peel, and dust of cinnamon. Jenni and her team of women, love what they do and it definitely shows. They make you feel at home, even when you’re more than five thousand kilometers away. The best part? They focus on local products from organic farms in Tenerife."
"Just a beautiful spot only slightly off the beaten path. Everything we had was fabulous; recommend artichoke if in season. Local wine recommended was just fabulous. Definitely will return."
